TyBeau Is Safe!

TyBeau

TyBeau spent more time at the shelter than California GSP Rescue knew and would have liked. He fell off the radar when he looked to have been adopted from the animal shelter; however, after receiving an email letting California GSP Rescue know TyBeau was still at the animal shelter, we didn't waste any time. An appointment was made with the animal control officer to visit him the following morning.

When Volunteer Greg arrived at the local animal shelter, he didn't know what to expect but understood immediately why TyBeau hadn't been adopted. Led into a let-out area, Volunteer Greg saw a solid liver frightened German Shorthaired Pointer. Frightened, TyBeau watched the new visitor's every move, but when he saw the new person had treats, he became curious.

TyBeau liked the treats offered, but the dog treats were initially tossed on the ground as small offerings to encourage him to approach his visitor. Several minutes later, he took his first treat from Volunteer Greg's hand.

One could see his ribs and spine through his liver coat. Who knows how long he had been scavaging for food on his own, and, like many dogs, he wasn't putting on weight in the shelter environment. The tip of his right ear was missing, which looked to be from another dog attacking him. There was no way to know when it could have happened, but it seemed relatively recent. TyBeau was in bad shape, but that was about to change.

Volunteer Greg never questioned rescuing TyBeau. He knew his chances of being adopted were slim if he was left at the animal shelter. Worse, what would happen to him was unimaginable if he wasn't adopted. Working with him and finding him a home to manage him would take time. While TyBeau was beautiful in Greg's eyes, he wasn't a German Shorthaired Pointer many applicants would be up for adopting because of how timid he behaved. Knowing California GSP Rescue had recently taken in Rylee and other timid GSP’s in the past and found them homes, there was hope for TyBeau.

TyBeau was taken back to his kennel while the transfer paperwork was completed. Several minutes later, he would be brought back up to the front desk, where he would head out the animal shelter door and onto a new life. TyBeau was safe.

TyBeau was the tenth GSP rescued from a shelter in September. Deciding to rescue TyBeau is made much easier by knowing there is support from the Rescue Heroes and Donors. Please consider becoming a Rescue Hero to help support the efforts of California GSP Rescue.

TyBeau was given his name by Volunteer Dita, who rescued Ty and Beau from California GSP Rescue. Volunteer Dita also donates her time by making beautiful items for the fundraisers. If you attended Splish Splash, you most likely saw a few of her special handmade items. We greatly appreciate Volunteer Dita's time and contributions to help support California GSP Rescue's efforts.
