Sheriff Is Adopted!
Sheriff came to us earlier this year as an owner surrender. His previous owner had him for 7 years, but unfortunately, their schedule became busier, and Sheriff developed separation anxiety, and they were no longer able to give Sheriff the attention he needed. His owner reached out to us to help find him a home with someone who was retired, or works from home that could spend their days with Sheriff. And that is exactly what we did!
Kitty is a previous adopter. She adopted her beloved Beaux from us in 2014, and in January of this year, sadly, Beaux passed away. Kitty is one of those adopters you wish you had a million of. She kept in touch, shared updates, and photos of the life every dog dreams of. We know how much Beaux was loved, and Kitty reached out to us again to give a dog a forever home. We have always said that the more you love, the bigger your heart will grow, and Kitty is a perfect example of that.
Shortly after Kitty re-applied, we knew that Sheriff was the one. You see, Sheriff had a couple of appointments, but because of an old leg injury which was more noticeable to those that met him, than is was to Sheriff, they passed on him. But when Kitty met Sheriff, she saw nothing but a perfect dog. She and Ellen and LouLee made the long drive from Northern California to meet Sheriff, and it there was no doubt that Sheriff was going to his forever home.
Sheriff has been renamed Reef, and has settled in as if he has been there forever. We are so grateful to Kitty for coming back to adopt, and for the love she and Ellen and LouLee share for Reef, opening up their hearts and home for a dog in need.
“Reef is a love. What a great boy! Puppy, yes! The first day in our home he jumped from the deck steps to the garden & it looked exactly like a pointer jump with all four paws out-stretched. He is a joy. Responds to Reef, doing basic exercises. Will be doing walk/heel work. He is a puller.
I also wanted to let you know that I took Beaux's ashes with me on the trip to the rescue. I scattered some around the memorial trees. I also spread some around the dogs' complex for a Forever Home soon.
Again, thank you.
Forever grateful, forever blessed.

A message from Reef:
Dear Teri, Greg, & everyone at California GSP Rescue,
I have a new home! My two moms (well, about-to-be moms), & my new brother (a terrier-mix) drove all the way from Oakland to pick me up. That was over a month ago & I am over the moon still! I have a big house, a big garden, a new brother & a new mom. I fit in immediately & am so happy & confident in my new life. I get SOOOO much attention & affection. Is this real? Yes!
Thank you all so very much for helping me find my new life.
I know mom misses Beaux terribly. He is here. I smell him & I sense him. Yes, Beaux, I will look after her.
Love & hugs (which I get all the time now!) to all of you. Thank you for the work you do. We are glad we bring our 'people' joy.
Love & gratitude always,
Reef
