Meet Buddy!

Buddy is a 6 years young German Shorthaired Pointer with lots of spunk!  As a matter of fact, we are pretty sure if we covered those gray eyebrows, we could pass him off as a 2 year old! Don't worry, we wouldn't try to tell you he's younger, as we know there are plenty of GSP lovers who appreciate this age!This petite guy is a bundle of GSP energy and curiosity. A hike with Buddy will leave you with a smile on your face! He is a joy to watch as he dives in to every bush and chases every lizard, squirrel, bird, gopher.... well, you get the idea. And, while he is quite distracted out in nature, once you get this little guy inside, you can get some attention and affection out of him! It's as if he is saying, "hey, was that you who just took me on that cool walk? Well YOU are awesome!"Although Buddy doesn't seem to know many commands, he is a smart boy and has been very responsive to training after some vigorous exercise. He runs alongside a bike like a champ and would definitely be a great running partner and even though he is about 6, Buddy will need you to be active with him. Buddy is also great with other dogs, getting along with the whole pack at the Rescue's play field. Buddy however, would not be a candidate for a cat home.He came into the shelter as a stray, and although we haven't seen any inclination to go over fences, we have seen him eagerly peak under the fence if he finds a hole, so we wouldn't recommend he be left in the yard all day, and would definitely be better for a home where he could be indoors while you are away.Buddy is also a "talker", and let's us know when his favorite volunteers have left the field.
