Sherman

Sherman is a very handsome 10-year-old liver and white male German Shorthaired Pointer. He came to us after being picked up as a stray and taken to a local shelter. He was found roaming a Walmart parking lot known as a local place to dump your unwanted dog. How Sherman got there is still a mystery. 

Since Sherman has been in our care, he has become a volunteer favorite. He has done well in his foster home with other dogs residing there. Sherman knows how to use the dog door and is a great house guest. He will also sit for treats!

Sherman went to see Dr. Kang and had some radiographs taken of his hindquarters. Sometimes he appears weak in his back legs. As it turns out, he had been hit by a car at an earlier age and has a plate in his left leg. Some of the stiffness he exhibits is from arthritis in his right hip and left knee. Dr. Kang recommended a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory as needed. 

Sherman loves being around the company of people and enjoys pets and having his ears scratched. Sherman would be the perfect companion for someone who wants a more seasoned GSP rather than a younger crazy GSP. Sherman is easy on a leash, so a short leisurely walk once or twice a day to stretch his legs would be perfect. He is just as easy as they come.

The Good Stuff: Loves people and enjoys getting attention and pets. Very happy boy

The Challenges: Barks when left alone but will quiet down. He does not try to escape.
