Harry
Harry is a three-year-old solid liver German Shorthaired Pointer. Harry was rescued from a local shelter where he had been picked up as a stray. He is on the larger size for a German Shorthaired Pointer weighing in at 70 pounds and appears a little mellower than other GSP’s his age. Harry has engaged well with other well-mannered GSP’s, but doesn't express much interest in playing. Depending on the other dog(s), he could be a candidate in a multidog home or as an only dog.
Harry will need plenty of exercise, training, and mental stimulation as he is likely to get bored if left in a yard as his only source of exercise. When left alone in a yard for an extended period, Harry looks to the other side of the fence, where the grass is greener, for entertainment and pets. While he has not escaped while in our care, we suspect he could, based on observations, and the fact he was picked up as a stray.
Harry is a quick learner and responsive. He has learned to "sit" for treats in no time, and we are confident that he will learn basic commands in no time with a bit of training. Enrolling Harry in a structured obedience class is highly recommended.
