Sedona

Sedona is Safe!

Sedona is an adult German Shorthaired Pointer who didn't come from a shelter, but made her way to California GSP Rescue (www.gsp-rescue.org) after her owner passed away. As we previously mentioned in Nemo's post (https://www.gsp-rescue.org/gspr-news/nemo-is-safe), not all dogs we rescue come from shelters. Unfortunately, Sedona's family was not able to provide for her, and reached out for assistance.

If Sedona Were Younger

If Sedona were younger, her story might be a little different. As a young female, a friend or neighbor might have offered to take her. Some families might have attempted to give her away on Craigslist or Nextdoor (cringe). She'd create quite the stir of excitement as a free dog on the internet, but who knows who is answering the ads for a free dog.

Sedona is not a young dog but an adult with many good qualities and years left. Experienced GSP owners will agree that she is a perfect age. Not likely to chew up anything, but still up for a good hike or even run. She gets along well, so far, with other dogs, and is acclimating to a multi-dog foster home. She learned how to use a doggy door - she had no idea where the dogs disappeared when they went through that rubber flap! She is eating well, a good sign for a dog in a new home, and enjoys engaging and playing with the other dogs in the field.

We'll continue to evaluate Sedona to find her a forever home. Each day we learn more about her, and look forward to sharing what we have learned about Sedona with our readers and potential adopters.

Pandemic Pups

This year, we have noticed an increase in the number of German Shorthaired Pointers whose owners have passed away. While this isn't a metric we typically monitor, we would generally take in just a few, two, maybe three dogs in past years. This year we have taken in more than double that number. Please consider becoming a Rescue Hero (https://www.gsp-rescue.org/fundraisers/p/become-a-rescue-hero) and help us continue our efforts.
