Scout

Scout

Scout is a two-year-old male German Shorthaired Pointer who was relinquished after the owner's living arrangements changed, and they moved into a smaller house with a small yard. They were struggling to give him the attention he needed.

Scout was diagnosed with an allergy and appeared to be sensitive to beef, chicken, and many grains. His previous owner had issues keeping weight on him, but he has done well while in the care of California GSP Rescue.

He is house-trained and, at one time, lived with another dog. He has slept in a crate and on a dog bed. He can get a little vocal when he wants attention. However, this seems to be managed well when he receives enough exercise.

Notes from the family that surrendered Scout to us:

Our yard is small, and Scout is very high maintenance, he has had some health issues and trouble gaining weight/allergies. We feel he will be more happy and healthy with someone who hunts and has a big property

The Basics:

Gender: Male

Dogs: Good with well socialized

Cats: Will chase

Children: Lived with older children

The Good: Well behaved (when properly exercised) and knows a few commands (sit, lay down).

The Challenges: Poor recall. Comes when you have treats and not distracted.

What our volunteers are saying:

He loves chasing lizards and small critters.

He loves the pool, knows "sit", "down", and "paw".

Falls asleep in your hands when you rub his ears.

Loves pets and attention.

Scout is doing great on his current pork and duck-based raw diet. He needs someone willing to work with his dietary issues and avoid giving him proteins that can cause him to react. With exercise and continued training, Scout will be a fantastic addition to the right home. If you are interested in adopting him, please submit an application. One of our volunteers will contact you.
