Iris

Iris

Iris is a 3-year-old female black GSP. While traditionally black German Shorthaired Pointers are rare, most at the animal shelters are mislabeled, as was Iris.

Iris gets along great with other dogs. She enjoys the daily romps and playtimes with the other dogs. Does well with all well-socialized dogs but isn't always comfortable if she gets crowded by too many dogs all at once.

She is smart. Very smart. Know "sit" and "paw." She will do well with someone that wants to continue working with her and teaching her new commands and tricks.

Iris is active but not overly active. What does that mean? Well, while she needs daily exercise, she doesn't appear to need as much as the younger GSP’s. You'll often find Iris lying down and napping while the other dogs continue playing.

The Basics

Gender: Female

Age: 3

Dogs: Good with everyone she has met

Cats: unknown

Kids: Older children

The good stuff: Smart and wants to learn. Will learn new tricks quickly.

The challenges: Uncomfortable if crowded by too many dogs

What our volunteers are saying about Iris

Does not jump on you but will push her nose into you when she wants something.

Will fetch if you throw a toy.

Perfectly mannered. So sweet and calm.

Likes her back scratched.

Follows you and gently asks for pets.

Iris is young, with many good years left. While she will still need daily exercise, she will be the perfect dog for someone that doesn't have time to exercise a younger dog. If you feel you are a good fit and can manage Iris, please submit an application. One of our volunteers will contact you.
