Rosie
Rosie is a young mellower German Shorthaired Pointer who was rescued from a local Animal Shelter. The Animal Shelter had her listed as two-years-old, but she might be one or two years older, and we listed her as three years old to not upset her.
She is sweet and loving, with emphasis on both, and would be the perfect dog, after being exercised, to hang out and get pets. Once you start, it'll be hard to stop!
While she has her mellower moments, she is still active and needs regular exercise. Currently, she is getting about thirty minutes of intense exercise a day. If she were only going for a walk, a warm-up for most GSP’s, she would need over an hour a day.
She is good on a leash, although she likes to stop and smell under bushes and in any holes. Not unusual for a hunting dog. She responds to gentle corrections - a gentle tug will get her moving again. In addition, she knows "sit" and "kennel up." Two good commands helpful in integrating her into a new home.
Rosie is well-mannered and has gotten along well with all the dogs she has been around. She tends to stay to herself and hunt but hasn't minded socializing with all ages of dogs - even the sometimes annoying young ones that always want to play.

What our volunteers are saying about Rosie
On walks she pulls at lot at first, then calms down
Likes to walk in an ‘S” pattern
Really likes neck scratches and tug of war
Very curious on walk, high prey drive, good energy and very alert
Happy happy girl, she likes scratches under the chin and behind the ears
While Rosie is about as easy as it gets for a young GSP, she will need daily exercise. If you can manage her daily exercise and continued training, please apply here. You will be amazed at what an incredible dog Rosie is!
