Max

Max

Max is a five-year-old male German Shorthaired Pointer that is house trained and dog friendly. He has also done well with the children he has met, and while active, he won't need as much exercise as a younger GSP.

Max was surrendered by his family when they could no longer manage his separation anxiety. His family had him for only six months and had gotten him from someone who had begun traveling for work. He had lived his entire life with another dog in his original home, but the pair were separated when the original owner could not place them together. Max missed his companion and routine and, when left alone, became anxious.

Notes from the family that surrendered Max to us:

“Max had a brother previously and NEEDS to live with another dog. We can't have another dog at this time, so we need to do what is right for him and find another home. He is so anxious when left alone because he has never had to be left alone; he has always had his brother there and never had anxiety then”.

They described the ideal home for Max would be a family with at least one other dog.

What our volunteers are saying:

Extremely sweet and loving

He immediately laid down in the kiddie pool and stayed there most of the time. He loves playing in the water. Not interested in toys. Just wanted to lay in the water and watch what was going on with everyone else (hot day).

Full of energy and loves running with you.

Does great on leash, doesn't pull hard, likes getting pet while walking.

Great with bike … easy to bike with and very cooperative.

Likes to play ball.

Chased a lizard. He almost caught it! He pulls on the leash when he sees them.

He constantly gets his teeth stuck on his lip. Gives him a cute and funny little smile.

Max has been very sweet and loving to everyone he has met in our care. He has done well around the other dogs at the rescue and did great when we tested him running alongside a bike. Just an all-around nice boy.

If you are interested in adopting him, please submit an application. One of our dog loving volunteers will contact you.
