Hank
Hank is a three-year-old male German Shorthaired Pointer that isn't short on energy. While he is three, he needs as much or more exercise than a one-year-old GSP. An astounding athlete, Hank can run, bike, fetch, and possibly several other things with a bit of training. As with any athlete, he needs considerable daily exercise. Do not think a walk around the block will be enough as it is just a warm-up!
Originally, Hank was purchased by an older couple who couldn't give him the exercise and training he needed. After realizing they were no match for his energy, they gave him away to someone who had a better understanding. However, his second owner was outmatched as well when it came to exercise. Fortunately, Hank wasn't given to anyone else who couldn't manage him but found his way to California GSP Rescue.
Hank will be best as an only dog. While he has done fine in environments with other well-socialized dogs, he has had issues with some dogs in the same home. He needs someone who can manage him around dogs that make him nervous and cause him to react.
Hank would do better in a home without small children or cats. He hasn't lived with either, and would likely be nervous around children and, well, excited around cats.
If you are looking for a dog to go on daily hikes with you, Hank might be the dog for you. However, hiking just a couple of times a week will not do. He recently biked, ran, & played fetch for several hours and didn't show any signs he was tired. Remember, Hank is an astounding athlete.
When he gets enough exercise, Hank will love sitting with you and getting pets. You'll find your reward at the end of the day for giving him all the exercise he needs.
