Estrella

Estrella

Meet Estrella, an enchanting 6-year-old German Shorthaired Pointer that radiates joy with her vibrant personality. She has a stunning solid liver coat with a touch of whimsy with a charming white roan patch. Estrella's extraordinary journey commenced when she and her potential older sister, Corazon, were found exploring a secluded canyon nestled within Southern California's picturesque landscape. Despite her unfortunate detour to the shelter, where she was labeled a stray and later surrendered by her owner, Estrella now eagerly awaits a forever home.

During her time at the animal shelter, animal control officers discovered that Estrella had a microchip, leading them to contact her registered owner. It was a moment filled with hope for a heartwarming reunion, but sadly, it unveils the most poignant chapter of Estrella's tale: her owner never came forward to claim her. Estrella was deemed relinquished to the shelter despite exceeding the necessary waiting period. The volunteers, captivated by Estrella's undeniable sweetness, find it difficult to comprehend why her owner did not claim such a lovable companion.

At her ideal age for a GSP, Estrella doesn't demand the same level of exercise as a younger, more active German Shorthaired Pointer, but she will still benefit from regular walks and playtime. With a little dedicated effort, she can be trained to enjoy a game of fetch—she already eagerly retrieves but is still learning the command "give."

Estrella was discovered running loose with another dog named Corazon, and she appears compatible with other well-socialized dogs she has met. Her behavior and demeanor suggest that she could thrive in a multi-dog household. However, it is crucial to conduct a thorough assessment to ensure a harmonious coexistence with any other canine companions.

The Basics:

Gender: Female
Age: 6
Dogs: Friendly
Cats: Unknown
Kids: Unknown

The Good Stuff: Sweet sweet sweet and affectionate

The challenges: Has dug holes when left unattended and bored

What the volunteers are saying:

- takes treats gently and will wait for them
- loves her head scratches
- played well with other socialized dogs
- walks nicely on a leash until she sees a critter, then can pull
- she played fetch. She is not great at dropping the ball yet, but doesn't mind you taking it from her mouth

Estrella undeniably is one of the most affectionate dogs awaiting adoption, and we firmly believe her future adopter will wholeheartedly agree. Don't be deceived by her age—she has an enduring spirit and awaits many more years of delightful walks and hikes. If you feel that Estrella could be the perfect addition to your life, we warmly encourage you to take the next step and complete an adoption application. Prepare to be pleasantly astonished by the joy she brings into your world!
