Chevy

Chevy is an approximately 6 year old very handsome liver roan German Shorthaired Pointer. Chevy came to us when we were notified that he was at a local shelter after his owner surrendered him due to a lump that they couldn’t afford to take care of. We had Chevy examined by Dr. Kang, and decided to have the lump removed at the same time he was getting neutered. The lump turned out to be a spindle cell tumor, and thankfully, Dr. Kang was able to get clean margins, and remove it in it’s entirety. He has healed nicely, and everything looks great!

Chevy is a really nice dog. Loves affection from all of the volunteers. We have noticed that he may have some separation anxiety, so a home where someone is home most of the time, would be best for Chevy. We don’t know if Chevy lived with other dogs, and are unsure how Chevy would do with another dog in the home. He seems to be a bit forward, and may need to be an only dog, or with someone that can properly introduce and socialize Chevy and the dog in the home.

Being an adult GSP, this is such a perfect age. Chevy is very sweet, friendly and affectionate. He has a very calm demeanor. He walks well on the leash, but does pull in the beginning, but then calms down and seems to know how to heel. Our volunteers who have worked with him have all said he is a very intelligent dog, and is highly trainable.

We do not know if Chevy is house trained, but this is easily taught with a little bit of work, even in an adult dog.

The perfect home for Chevy would be with someone who is retired, or spends minimum time away from the home. Someone looking for a great companion to spend days going for walks and hikes then settling in and enjoying some down time joining you watching your favorite television shows. Chevy does enjoy riding in the car, so he would probably make a great road trip buddy!

If Chevy sounds like he would be a good fit for you and your lifestyle, please apply here.

We would like to thank the Rescue Heroes, as your continued support enabled us to get Chevy the surgery he needed to be made available for adoption!
