Buddy
Meet Buddy! A sweet 4 year old male GSP who wants to be your best friend!
Buddy has a sad story… His original owner passed away which left Buddy and his two siblings orphaned. They were picked up by a family member, however a short time later, the three adult German Shorthaired Pointers showed up as strays, and wound up in a remote animal shelter. With shelters at full capacity, California GSP Rescue wasted no time getting the trio to safety.
A month after Buddy arrived, Buddy was adopted, but sadly returned after his owner was being deployed and could no longer care for Buddy.
Buddy has many wonderful qualities. He is house trained and crate trained. Good with commands once learned, and knows “down”, “paw”, “sit” and “heel”. He loves to cuddle and exercise. In his previous home, Buddy ran 2 1/2 miles every day which he loved. He does pull at first, but once you establish a pattern, he tends to heel very well.
Buddy would do best in a home as an only dog, or a mild mannered female dog, however no small dogs or cats.
Buddy loves his people, and he does have a bit of separation anxiety, so a home where someone works from home, or is retired would be ideal. Buddy is very loyal, always ready to go somewhere and just an overall great dog.
The Basics:
Gender: Male
Age: 4 years old
Dogs: Would be best as an only dog, or a mild mannered female. No small dogs.
Cats: No cats
Kids: Unknown
What the Volunteers are saying:
Walks well, loves getting attention.
Such a love bug. He wants you to pet and hold him and be right by his side.
He walks well on leash and doesn't pull unless he sees something he is interested in. He is quite the hunter.
He is always excited and wags his tail every time we see him.
He takes food and treats nicely, and is very polite/gentle while eating.
The Good Stuff:
Active: Loves to go for a daily run.
Smart: Knows commands, and learns quickly.
Social & Friendly: Loves people, and enjoys a good snuggle.
The Challenges:
Exercise Requirements: At least a 2 to 3 mile run daily, a couple of long walks every day, or a run alongside a bike.
Dog Social Skills: Most likely best as an only dog. Possibly a mild mannered female with managing. No male dogs. No small dogs or cats.
The perfect home for Buddy would be a place with room to run, and get daily exercise. Someone that’s willing to take him for a run or a long walk every day, because he enjoys it, and even at 4 years old, he needs it. Someone that’ll keep him mentally stimulated with training and games will help Buddy thrive.
