Wanda Is Adopted!

Wanda originally showed up at a local shelter and was adopted to a private party https://www.gsp-rescue.org/gspr-news/wanda-is-safe who, realizing they weren't the right home for Wanda, reached out to California GSP Rescue. California GSP Rescue took her in and got her to see Dr. Kang for the rings around her eyes. He prescribed her the medication she needed while Nancy and Bob were told about her. Being repeat adopters, they were familiar with the breed and knew that she would need plenty of exercise. She happened to come to the rescue at the right time for Nancy and Bob to meet and adopt her. Nancy best tells how the timing was everything.

First of all, I want to start up by saying the last couple of years have been really rough on everybody especially with the Covid situation, and I can’t take that away from anybody but for us, we lost three of our German Shorthairs. One through sickness Greta, another one elderly Dexter, and another tragedy for the third one Penny. All within a year and a half. We were devastated we have been going to the California German Shorthaired Rescue for many years and always had a Shorthair plus other dogs that we have rescued out of the streets or wherever. After we lost the last dog, we decided we are going to get another one and we got a call from the German Shorthaired Pointer Rescue that they had a dog. A very special dog and her name is Wanda.

When we met her we knew we were going to be taking her home and we did. This little girl is a feisty little girl but she is alive with love. She’s only about a year and a half old. She’s very inquisitive and wants to know everything. She’s going to be my running partner, but she needs a little bit of training first, and we’re working on that. She just loves her brothers, Dozier and Champ. They love to just run around in the backyard and play. And she loves going to the dog park with them. She can run for hours. Wanda is full of love and maybe never had that chance before, I don’t know, but she sure shows it and we love her. I can’t say enough about adopting a dog. It is something very special and somehow I think they know that, and they show love even more.

Wanda fit into their pack and family perfectly! In addition to getting plenty of exercise, she is loved. Sometimes all it takes is finding the right home. California GSP Rescue is grateful to Nancy and Bob for their continued support and adopting from California GSP Rescue.
