Trixie Is Adopted!
Bryan and his wife Morgan had adopted Finn several years back and reached out when they wanted to bring another GSP into their home.
We had recently took in a female that was young and full of energy. We reached out to Bryan to have a frank discussion about the energy level and what would be required in terms of continually training and ample exercise; but also thought Trixie might be a great fit for their family. Bryan was a runner and Lisa remembered how much was required of Finn when they took him home. An appointment was set to meet Trixie and it was like it was always meant to be.
After a few hours visiting with Trixie, walking her, playing in the field with Finn and most important, seeing how good Trixie was with the kids, Morgan and Bryan felt they could provide Trixie what she needed and felt she would be a great addition to their family.
Of course, Trixie had the typical young GSP energy and required lots of exercise. Bryan even bought a leash so he could run both Trixie and Finn together. He said he sometimes had to take her for a little longer than normal run to ware her out. He also said that she is fantastic with the kids and they just adore her.
Bryan recently sent an update:
We adopted Trixie (now Roxy), who was our second adopted GSP from CA GSP Rescue. At only a year old or so, Trixie having been adopted and given up a couple of times previously, we were a little concerned, but everything that CA GSP shared about what they knew of her previous adoptions seemed to us like typical GSP behavior.
We were a little unsure when we made our initial visit, but upon meeting Roxy, she was great with our 5 yr old GSP and great with our kids. Being a bit younger, she exhibited a lot of puppy behaviors and was a typical excitable and playful GSP. Once we got her home, there were a few challenges with potty training, but overall she was good about it, and the challenges seemed more to do with anxiety and uncertainty than not knowing different. Within a few weeks we had her on our schedule and have had no problems since. She loves to play and wrestle with Finn, our 5 yr old GSP and has to have human contact about 23 hours a day.
We’re still working on training on a number of things, but she has been a great addition to our family!
Thanks,
Bryan
