Shadow Is Adopted!

Shadow, a 5-year-old female German Shorthaired Pointer came to us when her owner reached out to us for help after she lost her job and her home. It wasn’t an easy decision for her, but she was forced to relocate to a home with another family member with no yard, and a bossy small dog which wasn’t ideal for Shadow.

Shortly after Shadow arrived, we received an application from Michelle, wanting to adopt an adult or senior dog, and inquired about Shadow. The application looked good. Michelle and her family had a Lab prior who lived to be 14, and while they had not owned a GSP before, their application showed their devotion to the daily exercise, training, swimming, snuggles and an abundance of love they would provide Shadow. We invited them all out to meet her, and there was no question that she was going home with them.

We have received a few updates since Shadow joined her new family that we wanted to share with you!

“Good morning!  It’s going well!  Shadow slept through the night with no problems and has been going to the bathroom frequently. She wasn’t interested in breakfast, so we’ll see how dinner goes.  Plans for today include a bath!

Wanted to let you know that Shadow is doing great!  I feel like she has adjusted because her tail is always wagging!  We have discovered her favorite things are squeaky soft toys, tug ropes and water hose play.  Walking her with the Gentle Leader has solved the leash training problem.  She loves meeting our neighbors, but the squirrels drive her nuts!  She is very affectionate, too.  She had her first road trip to Big Bear and did great in the car and new surroundings.   

She is so loving and has attached to our family with no problems.  She goes to doggie day care sometimes and has a great time.  She's been boarded once and had glowing reviews on her behavior.  Everyone she meets comments on how sweet and soft she is!  She's had a comprehensive health exam and is totally healthy.  Her blood test revealed she has allergies, so we have adjusted her diet to hopefully help with that.  Her favorite toys are stuffed squeakers! Shadow has been a joy and a welcome addition to our family”.
