Poppy's life had hit a crossroads, and destiny seemed to have dealt her an unfortunate hand. As a young female German Shorthaired Pointer, she is full of energy and likely to find trouble if bored, but she had found herself in a dire situation. Fate had led her to the cold, sterile confines of a kennel at a local animal shelter after being picked up as a stray, bearing the scars of an undisclosed trauma. The veterinarian, contracted by animal control to assess her injuries, couldn't help but wonder if she had been the victim of a vicious attack. The laceration across her chest told a silent tale of struggle – as she rolled onto her back to defend herself in a last attempt for survival.

The veterinarian's skilled hands worked diligently, stitching Poppy's injuries, but her prospects for finding a loving home were dim. The shelter's visitors, seeking furry companions ready to play and be part of a family, often bypassed dogs needing medical attention. Knowing Poppy would face an uphill battle to catch the eye of a potential adopter, animal control reached out to California GSP Rescue.

When California GSP Rescue received word of a German Shorthaired Pointer in distress, their unwavering commitment to these dogs remained unshaken. The cost has never been a deterrent, as there is only one option for the animal shelter that cannot place an animal with a medical condition. Getting the dog to safety before the animal shelter exercised the last option was more critical than the cost of seeing a Vet.

Poppy's journey turned hopeful as California GSP Rescue quickly rescued her from the shelter with unwavering determination. Despite the hardships she had endured - the attack, being injured, & sitting in a kennel - she may have had reservations as the volunteer stood at the end of the hall waiting. What awaited her now, in this new chapter of her life?
