Pops Is Adopted!

Hops with Melissa and Mark

Pops was adopted from us several years ago, and returned to us 7 years later when his owners work schedule changed, and was no longer able to give Pops the attention and exercise he needed. Pops spent most of his days in a laundry room, and his owner felt that it would be best to return him to us to find him a home with someone who could give him the attention and love he deserved.

Melissa and Mark were previous adopters, and always opening up their home and hearts for a senior. Back in 2018 they adopted a senior dog from us named Mumford, and gave him the life every dog dreams of until he sadly passed away in June of 2019. Melissa and Mark were heartbroken, but so grateful for the time they had with Mumford.

A little while later, Melissa and Mark reached out to us to put them on the list for another senior dog to adopt. Pops had just come back to us, and he had one challenge. He did not do well with other dogs. As luck would have it, Melissa and Mark did not have any other dogs, and said that they would love to help out Pops. They said Pops seems like a very sweet boy, and said he would benefit from attention, and that they would have a great place for him in their home and hearts. We couldn’t be more grateful to Melissa and Mark for reaching out to us to adopt another senior dog. Pops is now known as Hops, and is living his best life!

“Hops is doing great! He has been a perfect addition to our home. He is so gentle, well behaved and smart, he has learned many new commands and is highly motivated when treats are involved. Hops, ( We renamed him because he hops like bunny when he is excited, Pops is way too old for a dog so young at heart and Mark likes beer, figured easy for him to respond and learn as close to Pops), making himself at home.. Lots going on, settling in with running and swimming and training with the doggy door, so far so good.

We go hiking every morning, Hops has a very acute internal clock, a routine down, and if one step is missed he will be sure to let us know. He loves to ride in the car, swim, eat and is the best sleeper. We have tried socializing with dogs we meet on the trails and other travel adventures, but have not been very successful. We seem to have better results if he is tired and continues to be a work in progress.

He made his annual visit to the vet and he has lost 10lbs since we adopted him! Yay! He looks really great. His lipomas are increasing in size but he is managing to stay active and his blood work is relatively good. A little cardiac issue we are dealing with, but gosh he is 14 and thankful he still wants to go like crazy, definitely his nature. He is so happy.

We recently traveled to northern Arizona, southern Utah for some hiking and adventuring.

Appreciate all your efforts for all the GSP’s and thank you for matching us with Hops! We love him”.

Have the best day,

Melissa and Mark
