Polly Is Adopted!

Polly with Stacy and Scott and Libertee

Polly came into our rescue at 10 years old after her owner passed away, and no one in the family was able to care for her. The family reached out to us to help find her a home where she will be loved and cherished. After hearing her story and learning more about her, California GSP Rescue was confident they could find her a forever home. And that we did…

Stacy and Scott applied to adopt a senior GSP to be a companion for their almost 15 year old GSP, Libertee after unfortunately losing their 12 year old GSP, Clifford to cancer. They were open to a male of female, and had plenty of experience and love the breed. On their application they stated “We saw Polly’s sweet sugar face, and decided to apply”! Well they completely fell in love with Polly, and she and Libertee were instant sisters, She quickly became part of a family that felt like she had been with them forever. However, this story turned bittersweet, as they recently lost their beautiful Libertee. We are so very sorry for their loss, but grateful that Polly was their to lift their spirits and provide comfort to Libertee in her last days.

“Polly is doing so well!  She adapted very quickly to our household, though she still tries (and sometimes succeeds) to get a little morsel of people food.  Have you seen her sweet face?  She's hard to resist sharing a piece of popcorn or a little pizza crust!  She does get lots of apples, carrots, sweet potatoes and blueberries for treats, but her favorite is watermelon.

She has also become quite the huntress, running down varmints in the yard that are drawn by the bird feeders, good girl Polly. We have daily walks either around the neighborhood or at the park and let me tell you she is S.T.R.O.N.G!!!  When Polly sees a bolting bunny IT'S ON!  We look forward to taking her to the mountains and the dog beach once things settle down a little, we know she will love those new experiences and look forward to seeing her in different environments.

She was the most wonderful companion to our 15-year-old Libertee all the way up to her last moments, she may be a little lonely now on the two days a week I don't get to work from home since her "sister" is gone...hmmm...

Thank you Teri and California GSP Rescue for allowing us to love this beautiful, good girl”!!
