Pebbles is Adopted!
Pebbles has found her forever home!When Ann and Michael applied to adopt a German Shorthaired Pointer, they were looking for a companion to fill the hole in their hearts after the loss of their GSP, Georgie. In the past, they had always raised puppies, and had them all their lives. This time they wanted to help an adult dog by giving them a loving home, and were committed to their health, appropriate training, and providing them with a loving safe environment. Our one challenge... Their 9 year old cat, Oliver. However, Oliver was raised with their other dogs, so we just needed to fit them with a dog that would appreciate him as well.Pebbles was found by a good Samaritan and not only looked for the owner but contacted a couple of rescues. Being one of the rescues, we were able to monitor her in the shelter from the first day. From the photo, we weren’t sure if she was a Pointer or possibly a Mix. In addition, we are careful about dogs that aren’t GSPs since most of the visitors to our website are fans of German Shorthaired Pointers and are not always interested in other breeds. We waited and watched hopeful the owner would come and claim her. After she was held for the mandatory holding period going unclaimed, she was put up for adoption. There was one other rescue that had expressed an interest in her but never showed up at the shelter to rescue her. We knew she was running out of time and were concerned for her safety as she was listed as eight years old.Upon arrival, the volunteer reported that she definitely looked like a Pointer. Was calm (the beauty of being an adult) but had a few lumps and skin tags. Her teeth were in bad shape too. It didn’t look good for her if we didn’t rescue her. As an adult dog needing medical attention, most visitors to the shelter would shy away from her, but we knew there was someone out there who would see what we saw. An amazing dog.Pebbles was a bit older than Michael and Ann had applied for, but she was so perfect for them in every way. A sweet demeanor, beautiful, and cat friendly, so we asked them if they would be interested in meeting an older female. They said yes, and came out to see if there would be a connection with Pebbles. Just a few minutes with this amazing girl, there was an instant connection. They fell in love with her, and knew she was the one, appreciating this incredible dog, and just how special she was.
