Nemo Is Adopted!

Nemo with Robert and Linda - Nemo’s face says it all!

California GSP Rescue took Nemo (https://www.gsp-rescue.org/gspr-news/nemo-is-safe) in after being contacted that his owner was taking him to the shelter if no one wanted him. We knew the chances of someone wanting a "free" dog that had attacked another dog were not good. If anyone had responded, the previous owner wouldn't have cared for what purpose they wanted Nemo.

We had Nemo for several months. As we learned more about him, we were continuously amazed by him. We shared videos (https://youtu.be/yPBBqpJ-x4o) and posts (https://www.gsp-rescue.org/dogs-for-adoption/meet-nemo) showing how smart and loving he was. We asked for your help in sharing his information in hopes of finding him a forever home, and it worked!

Linda and Robert had previously had 3 GSP’s and were familiar with the breed. They had dealt successfully with the challenges they had faced in the past and were not deterred by Nemo's past. Having submitted an adoption application, they waited to speak with a volunteer from our adoption committee, after which they made an appointment to meet Nemo. It didn't take long for them to know he was the perfect dog for their family. Nemo found his forever home!

Linda and Robert sent the following update a few days after adopting Nemo:

Nemo is doing great! He is such a loving dog.

We went on our first walk together this morning. It was 3 miles and he was a real trooper.

His first night was good. He cried for a little while, and then he was ok. He seems to have adjusted very well. Our daughter loves him”!!

A few days ago, we received this Christmas greeting.

“Nemo wants to wish all the volunteers at GSP Rescue a very Merry Christmas! Santa was good to Nemo and brought him lots of great treats. He loves his new bed!

Nemo has adjusted well; however, we are still working on noises that make him uneasy. He's gotten better with that. We are so glad he is part of our family. He reminds us a lot of our last dog, Chocolat.

Thank you again for all your hard work,

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year”!

While we think Nemo is a fantastic dog, and anyone would have loved to have adopted him, finding him a home took time, and many social media shares. We want to thank those of you that helped by sharing Nemo's post on your social media and helping find him his forever home.
