Meet Nana!
Nana is a 5 year old, spunky and affectionate female liver and white ticked GSP, who wants nothing more than to be near her people and hunt some bunnies and lizards!Nana has lived in a house with a child and would be okay with a mellow dog in the house, but would not be good with cats. She knows "sit" and is doing pretty well with "stay", but would benefit from further training - which should be pretty easy as she is a very fast learner and just loves to hear "good girl!" She has proved pretty resourceful in getting over a 6' fence to go hunt, so she could not be kept outside when her family is gone. She is doing pretty well in a crate, and may be okay left in the house without one as well.Nana is also one of the luckiest dogs that has ever come to California GSP Rescue! She was living in a back yard with not much attention and no walks. Christine, a neighbor, noticed Nana and started to bring her treats and talk to her from the fence. She then convinced Nana's owner to let her walk her each day, and Nana and Christine became great friends. One day, Christine went to pick up Nana for a walk and she was definitely not herself. Christine recognized the signs of bloat, and when she wasn't successful in convincing the owner to take Nana to the vet, she got him to agree to give her ownership of Nana, and she rushed her to the vet for the surgery that saved her life.Nana is fully recovered and energetic as ever. Although Christine would have loved to keep Nana as part of her family, her 12 year old dog didn't see things the same way, and she contacted us to find a good family for Nana. She only requested that we find someone who will make sure Nana is an INDOOR dog, close to her family, loved by her family, and appreciated by her family. After being a backyard dog, she deserves nothing less for the rest of her life!If you have room in your home and in your heart for Nana, please apply here.
