Jersey Is Adopted!

1 year old Jersey was rescued from a high-kill shelter. She was a high energy young GSP, with very little training. We were looking for someone who would be dedicated to seeing she got exercised daily. Walking a mile or even two would not do. She needed at least thirty minutes of intensive exercise twice a day. In addition, she would need mental stimulation during downtime. A variety of toys that can be switched out, interactive toys, and toys that involve human interaction that would help keep her mentally stimulated and from being bored.

Ananda and Greg applied for a young female to join their family. While they had not previously had a GSP, they had labs and hounds and were experienced with high energy dogs, and were completely devoted to training and providing the exercise a young GSP needed. They live and work on their organic farm where there is an abundance of space and things to do for a dog, farm hunting! We invited them out to meet Jersey and an older dog, so they could see the difference, and they decided Jersey would be a good match for them and their lab, Missy and were excited for the challenge. Jersey was about to become a farm dog! We couldn’t be happier!

“Our 4-month journey with Cayenne aka Jersey has been amazing. Originally, we were thinking about getting a GSP puppy, but then realized that there were multiple GSP dogs needing a home.

Our first visit at the GSP Rescue Organization, we met with Jersey who was one and Zoe who was five. We wanted to compare the difference between the ages, since we lived on a farm with an older dog. We realized intensely that Jersey would be an excellent fit for our environment.

We named her Cayenne, based on her lively personality. We watched Cayenne turn into a free spirit roaming the farm, learning boundaries, adapting to our family and being accepted as a sister to Missy, our older dog. This experience has not been easy with her high energy, but we have the space for her to release that energy.

Cayenne has developed a strong bond with Greg and is extremely loyal. Our family would never be the same without Cayenne. We hold the GSP Rescue Organization in high regards and would recommend them to anyone who is looking for a GSP”.

Sincerely,

Greg and Ananda
