Brooklyn Is Adopted!

Brooklyn and Lana

Brooklyn came to us at 8 years old after she was picked up as a stray just down the street from a shelter. She looked to have had several litters of puppies with the last litter within six months of her being rescued. We think she may have been dumped because she needed medical attention. She also had a mammary tumor which we had removed and checked by our Vet, and thankfully it was benign and she was able to be made available for adoption.

Being 8 years old, the chances of being adopted are much less than the younger GSP’s. However, there are some angels that apply to adopt an older dog, and this was the case with Lana.

Lana applied to adopt after losing her beloved GSP, Bailey, and while she could never replace Bailey, she wanted to provide a loving home for an older GSP in need. She wanted to provide the exercise and activity and give a dog a good life. And that she did…

“I’m living my best life, thanks to California GSP Rescue. I get to run on the beach and go for hikes in the Redwoods! I get lots of love and attention, not to mention comfortable beds to sleep in and amazing food!

My mom has worked with a professional trainer to help me get settled in. I needed some training and reassurance so my mom read “The Dog Guardian” by Nigel Reed and this helped her better understand my needs. The BBC Maestro course ”Dog Training with Steve Mann” was helpful too. I’m grateful to have found my forever home.

I appreciate all the hard work all of the volunteers do for the rescue. I love this breed of dog and they all deserve to live happy lives. Brooklyn is such a good girl. She has blossomed, she is learning how to play and is having the best life ever”!
