Blue and Gerdi Are Adopted!

Blue came to the rescue with two other dogs. The call came from the landlord asking for help with three German Shorthaired Pointers. She was referred to California GSP Rescue by the local shelter, which had no room to spare. Her tenant had passed away, and she was desperate to find someone to help with Meadow, Blue, & Buddy.

Gerdi was found running loose with another dog. Fortunately, a kind-hearted individual discovered them and brought them to a no-kill animal shelter, hoping that their owner would claim them. Unfortunately, their owner never showed up, leaving the pair homeless, and the shelter reached out to us.

Deana and Steve and their son, Timmy are long time volunteers, adopters and foster family. If you have attended our Splish Splash Fundraising events, you most likely saw this family working hard and an integral part of the events success! This past Splish Splash event this past October was a bit different for them. They became intrigued by two of the dogs available for adoption who were at the event, Blue and Gerdi. Not really looking to adopt a dog, and not looking to adopt a young dog, they wanted to learn more about these two amazing dogs.

After the event, they couldn’t stop thinking about Blue and Gerdi. They wanted to come out and meet them both again, but they had another dog at home that they needed to check with as he was a bit choosy about his friends. They all came out with Guiness, and things went great! They not only went home with one dog, but two dogs! We couldn’t be happier for both Blue and Gerdi. They have hit the jackpot with this wonderful family!

“While it is certainly a risk to take on two GSP's at such a young age we felt we were up to the challenge and wanted to give them both a forever home since we fell in love with them at the Splish-Splash event.

Blue and Gerdi are so loving and beautiful. Although they did not really know each other prior to our adoption they've acted like brother and sister from the beginning. We are so glad we decided to take them both as they play and entertain each other constantly. Even more amazing is how they have integrated with our other older dog, Guiness. Guiness is a Black and Tan Coonhound and he likes to join in their play from time to time and they will gladly include him. But when he's done, he's done, and they don't push him any further. They all three get along so well.

Blue and Gerdi are still young GSP's and as such do require lots of exercise. Our backyard is fairly large and they take turns chasing each other at high speed. They also get lots of walks. Gerdi is very ornery and gets into trouble by digging up a lot of our yard. Blue, on the other hand, knows she's doing something that she is not supposed to do so he sits off to the side in a very stately manner as if to show us that it's not him.

After their first walks it was clear that some training was in order. We hired a professional trainer and the difference between then and now is astonishing! They now walk right by our side with a slack leash, no pulling. These two are so smart.

During the recent holidays we allowed them to walk free in the house with 16 or so of our family and their behavior couldn't have been better. We even got compliments on how good they were.

Blue and Gerdi have come into our lives and we are so happy they did. They are beautiful pups who have found their forever home”.
