Amaryllis Is Adopted!

Amaryllis now known as Phyllis with Vailia and Russell

Vailia and Russell applied for a young GSP as they thought it would be beneficial for their young daughter to grow up with a younger dog. They felt that it would give them an opportunity to train them both to be respectful and loving.

They were previous GSP owners, and knew the needs of a young GSP as they had raised Hank, a very high energy boy who they loved for 13 1/2 years until he sadly passed away.

They had the room in their lives, and their hearts, and had a huge space for a young GSP to run and play. We told them about Amaryllis who had lived with children and another dog, and we invited them to come out and meet her. They made the long drive, and it was love at first sight. Since adopted, Amaryllis got a new name to go with her new wonderful life.

“Phyllis (her new name) is an absolute love. She was a great traveler, she is amazing with everyone she has met including our little one. Her first day, she had a great time at the Vineyard and going to both wineries.

She acclimated very quickly, and all of us (including our 6 yr old) fell in love pretty fast.

We took her to trainer for a week, just to reinforce good behaviors and work on some of the areas she needed help. We're still working on cat introduction, and it's going pretty well!!

She definitely wants to be with us all the time, which is understandable. Luckily we have the schedules to accommodate that. She spends all day with us at the wineries and in vineyards, getting more than her quota of exercise. She also loves the beach, it seems like it was probably her first time meeting waves!

The adoption process, from the original application and thoughtfulness of the vetting process, to meeting and talking with the volunteers who took care of her, was very smooth and impressive. It's very obvious how much you all care.

Thank you again, we truly appreciate all you are doing”!!
