A Boy Named Sue

Sue is an irresistible 1 1/2 year old liver male German Shorthaired Pointer pup with a heart full of potential and a zest for life. This young GSP is a rare gem, offering you the unique opportunity to adopt a German Shorthaired Pointer puppy brimming with promise. Sue's (yes, a boy puppy named Sue) journey began when his pregnant mother, June, was found as a stray alongside Johnny, just days away from giving birth (see post here). The shelter's limited capacity prompted them to seek assistance from the California GSP Rescue, where Sue received the care and support he needed until a forever home could be found.

But Sue's journey is far from over; it's just beginning. While his cuteness is undeniable, it's crucial to understand the commitment that comes with owning a GSP puppy like Sue. Beyond his adorable appearance lies a significant investment of time and effort in his development. Although he is intelligent and quick to learn, Sue will require extra attention and dedicated training over the next few months, including house training.

Like all GSP’s, Sue has a daily exercise requirement that's non-negotiable. Are you ready to dedicate approximately an hour daily to ensure he receives the proper exercise he needs? In the next several months, the focus will be on activities designed to provide both mental and physical stimulation. As he grows older, physical activities can become more exercise-oriented. Providing Sue with appropriate exercise will significantly contribute to his training. Training should become more manageable as long as he continues to receive consistent exercise as he matures. This commitment will extend to at least forty-five minutes daily for the next five years.

The Basics:

Gender: Male

Age: 1.7 years

Dogs: Gets along well with active, well-socialized dogs

Cats: Trainable

Kids: Good with properly trained and well-socialized children

The Good Stuff: Everything. Absolutely everything. Sue is filled with potential and love.

The Challenges: Training and exercise. But with dedication, everything becomes easier.

What the Volunteers are saying:

* Smells like a puppy

* Nibbles on everything

* Very curious. Loves exploring.

Sue got his name from the iconic Johnny Cash song, "A Boy Named Sue," which seemed fitting given his parents' names, Johnny and June. While his name may change as he becomes part of your family, the commitment to providing him with exercise and training must remain steadfast. The time and effort invested in Sue will be rewarded with immeasurable happiness and fulfillment.

Remember, you're the one who can make a difference in Sue's life. If you don't live in a studio apartment and have the time, patience, and desire for outdoor adventures over Netflix marathons, you might just be the ideal candidate to welcome Sue into your loving home. If this resonates with you, we invite you to submit an adoption application today and take the first step toward embracing Sue as your adventure companion.
