Shimo
Shimo is a gorgeous 3-year-old brown and white male German Shorthaired Pointer who came to us when his owners could no longer manage his exercise needs or provide him with the training to thrive.
Shimo is house-trained but was never crate trained; however, we are working with him on crate training now. Most GSP’s enjoy the crate as long as it is introduced as a positive experience and not to be used as punishment. Crates can help with the initial adjustment to a new environment and anxiety issues.
Shimo had demonstrated separation anxiety and did not like to be left alone. He was previously left alone outdoors and learned to clear a 6 ft fence. Since we took him in, he has been monitored and hasn't gone over a fence; however, he has attempted to get through the fence to hunt in the field.
Shimo is very friendly with other well-socialized dogs and loves people and children. He would prefer a home with a well-socialized dog that can keep up with his energy and playful behavior. As far as people, anyone giving him pets is sure to win his heart.
Shimo is looking for an active home with someone who can continue training and exercising him. Both are important to see he receives the mental stimulation, as well as the physical stimulation, GSP’s need. Physical exercise is not a walk around the block but a full-on run for thirty-plus minutes multiple times a day.
