Daisy
Sunshine Seeker: This Playful Pup Needs Your Love!
Meet Daisy, the un-hypoallergenic dog! This playful 1-year-old German Shorthaired Pointer Lab Mix was rescued from a shelter by a caring family that wanted to help the local overcrowded shelter. Unfortunately, just a few months after saving her, they discovered their son was allergic to Daisy. She had to spend all day outside and was only allowed inside at night to sleep. That wasn't a place for Daisy.
Daisy is exceptionally smart and quick to learn. However, her intelligence can sometimes get her into trouble if she gets bored and isn't exercised. The best part is that she doesn't need as much exercise as some of the other young GSPs—a 30-minute walk at a brisk pace is fine.
Like most GSPs, she loves her people and wants to be with them. She has figured out how to find her Foster Mom in the morning and wake her up for pets - even if she is trying to sleep in!
She plays well with all the dogs she has met and has kept up with the other young GSPs. She does pull on a leash, but that is one of the challenges of attempting to get her the exercise she needs by walking her on a short leash. She'll need some training as she likes to hunt the bushes and chase the lizards on the walk. Because of her smaller size, this is a little more manageable than some of the bigger dogs.
The Basics:
Gender: Female
Age: 1 year old
Dogs: Loves playing with other dogs (big or small!)
Cats: Plays well with the office cat (unknown about unfamiliar cats)
Kids: Good with the children she has met (supervised interaction recommended)
The Good Stuff:
Playful & Affectionate: Daisy craves human connection and showers her humans with affection. She's a social butterfly who thrives on playtime with other dogs.
Smart & Trainable: This brainy girl is a quick learner who's already mastered the art of using a doggy door and (most importantly!) housebreaking. With some gentle training, she'll be mastering good manners in no time.
Low Maintenance: Don't let the "pointer" part fool you! While she loves a good walk (think 30 minutes, not hours!), Daisy is perfectly happy cuddling on the couch after a day of adventures.
The Challenges:
Leash Training: Daisy pulls on a leash, a common behavior when trying to fulfill her exercise needs. Positive reinforcement training will help her become a walking pro.
Attention Seeking: This eager-to-please pup might give you a playful "hello" jump. Consistent training will help her learn gentle greetings.
Boredom Busters: Daisy is a smart pup who thrives on mental and physical stimulation. Daily walks and playtime will keep her happy and well-behaved.
