Ranger
Ranger is a 12 years young male liver roan German Shorthaired Pointer. This boy may be 12, but he is very young at heart and acts like a big puppy!
Ranger was surrendered by his owner, when they no longer had the time to give Ranger the attention he needed. Once a fishing, swimming and hiking companion, unfortunately, as life changed, and a growing family evolved, Ranger spent much time alone in the backyard, and in an attempt to find his people, Ranger would work his way over a 6 foot fence to find them. Unfortunately, on one of those escapes, he allegedly was hit by a car and lost an eye, however, one eyed Ranger is not phased a bit by only having one eye at all!
Ranger is such an incredible boy. He is as sweet as he is handsome. Loving and oh so playful! He loves to play with toys, loves to play fetch, loves to swim, but does not like the hose. He is afraid of loud noises such as fireworks and gun shots. He lived with a female dog, and has done well with the well socialized dogs at the rescue. He rides great in a car, so he would make a great traveling companion. He is very birdy and prey driven, so no bird or cat homes are recommended. We were told by his previous owner that Ranger is house trained and crate trained, but it is always best to be on the safe side and work on that right from the beginning in new surroundings.
The perfect home for Ranger would be with an active family who can keep up with this 12 year old GSP! A home with a secure yard, and ideally, with someone who is retired or works from home, and can include Ranger in their daily routine and activities, since Ranger just LOVES being with his people. A true "velcro dog". Someone who can provide him the love and attention he craves, along with daily exercise, playtime, (make sure you have plenty of toys)! Ranger is treat motivated, and is eager to please which will be easy to keep his training in check. You can always teach an old dog new tricks! You will thoroughly enjoy spending time with Ranger. This boy is truly a gem and a ton of fun!
