Nala

Meet Nala, a 2-year-old female German Shorthaired Pointer who, despite being given up to the shelter due to financial constraints, has maintained her good health and spirit. She was recently spayed, and her resilience is evident in her worthiness of every penny of the forty dollars spent on dog food a month.

She was an only dog kept in the backyard and spent most of her time there. While we have yet to have an opportunity to fully house-train her, we are confident in her adaptability and believe she'll learn quickly. She gets along well with most socialized dogs; she needs to be fed separately, and food cannot be left down. She is not keen on sharing her food with other dogs.

She has a strong prey drive and likes hunting lizards, ground squirrels, and small furry or feathered animals. Walks can be challenging, but she is a fast learner and will be easy to train. However, we recommend she is exercised, not just by walking, but with at least 30-45 minutes of running once and possibly twice a day.

The Basics:

Gender: Female

Age: 2 years

Dogs: Good with well-socialized dogs

Cats: Interested

Kids: hasn't been exposed but has a good demeanor

What the Volunteers are saying:

- beautiful and unique color

- pulled on the leash to get a lizard

- sat for a treat

- loves pets

- no issue meeting other dogs on the trail

- sweet GSP

The Good Stuff:

Active and affectionate. Loves hunting lizards

The Challenges:

She will need some work on a leash, but he is responsive.

If you have time to exercise and train a young GSP, you will be well rewarded for the time you invest in Nala. Once trained on a leash, with her gorgeous coat, she will be a head-turner on walks.

Please take a moment before applying for Nala and assess the amount of time you can provide to exercise and train her daily. Now, if you have the time, are committed, and have a place in your heart for this active girl, please submit an adoption application today and take the first step to show Nala love.
