Lexie
Meet Lexie, the Unstoppable Pup! This playful 6-month-old German Shorthaired Pointer might have arrived at the shelter with a mysterious injury requiring a paw amputation, but it hasn't slowed her down one bit!
Despite missing a paw, she's full of life and loves to play with her friends Harry and Winnie (check out their video adventures!). She even uses a doggy door and is almost housetrained.
The Basics:
Gender: Female
Age: 6 months
Dogs: plays
Cats: plays with office cat
Kids: unknown at this time
What the Volunteers are saying:
Sweet and affectionate
Wants to be everyone's friend
Loves to play (non-stop!)
Can't resist a good cuddle!
The Good Stuff:
Playful: Always ready for fun, she'll charm you with her energy and mischievous spirit! (See her love for snuffle balls!)
Smart & Trainable: Picks up on commands quickly and is crate-trained.
Social Butterfly: Loves to play with other dogs (cats too, if they're up for it!) and craves human affection.
The Challenges:
Exercise Needs: Like any GSP puppy, Lexie needs lots of exercise and playtime.
Future Prosthetics: As an adult, she'll need a prosthetic leg (Dr. Kang intentionally left the leg long for this).
Lexie will steal your heart if she hasn't already. However, before meeting her and falling more in love, understand that while she only has three paws, she is a German Shorthaired Pointer. Lexie will need plenty of exercise for the next several years. Within this year, when she is fully grown, she will need to be fitted for a prosthesis as Dr. Kang intentionally left the leg long for a prosthetic leg.
