Johnny

Johnny

Johnny is a five-year-old male German Shorthaired Pointer that is clamorously charismatic. Johnny's striking appearance and commanding presence make him stand out wherever he goes. But don't be fooled by his size and loud bark - once he warms up to you, he's all about snuggles and cuddles. This big boy craves love and attention - two things he has lacked.

Like most German Shorthaired Pointers, Johnny has a lot of energy to burn. As a five-year-old, he's not as spry as younger pups, but he still needs plenty of exercise to stay happy and healthy. Luckily, his age also means that he'll tire out more quickly than a one- or two-year-old GSP, making him an ideal companion for someone with a busy schedule. However, it's important to remember that neglecting Johnny's exercise needs can lead to boredom. Johnny will find ways to amuse himself when left alone for too long without proper exercise - usually on the other side of the fence! His adopter will need to give him plenty of opportunities to run, jump, and play.

We are certain Johnny lived with another dog and has gotten along with some well-mannered dogs. However, he will need some training and work in socializing. He appears to have had some obedience training, but like most dogs, that is an ongoing process.

The Basics:

Gender: Male
Age: 5 years old
Dogs: OK with well-mannered dogs
Cats: sharp
Kids: Unknown

The good stuff: Loud but very affectionate

The challenges: An opportunist

What our volunteers are saying about Johnny:

* A little lover boy, just very big and loud.
* big boy - pretty good on leash when away from distractions.
* knows sit, shake and heal - heals when he knows you have a pocket full of treats.

Johnny's early years were marked by neglect and loneliness, which has only made his affectionate nature all the more poignant. But with the proper love and care, Johnny is sure to flourish into the loyal and loving companion he was always meant to be. If you have the time for a young GSP, you must meet Johnny. He'll be a little easier to exercise, and, with a bit of training and exercise, you'll be rewarded with an exceptional German Shorthaired Pointer. Click here to submit an adoption application.
