Titus Is Adopted!
We just love this update on Titus. Needing to be an only dog made him a little more of a challenge to place. Originally, Titus was relinquished because he and the other family dog had issues. When he was evaluated, he didn't get along with all the dogs, but only a select few in certain conditions.
California GSP Rescue looked for an adopter that only wanted one dog but could still give Titus the exercise and attention he needed. When John and Lily applied looking to adopt just one dog, we were optimistic. Seeing they had GSP experience and previously owned German Shorthaired Pointers, they would definitely need to meet Titus.
We set up an appointment for them to meet Titus and another dog that could also have been a good candidate. They met Titus first, and immediately felt a very strong connection with Titus and didn’t even want to meet the other dog. In the end, there was no question, they were adopting Titus. Here is a short update on Titus.
”Titus definitely filled a hole in our hearts after the loss of our 18 yr. old GSP. Very smart, listens very well. Extremely obedient. Have him walking " OFF LEASH" most times. Both of us and Titus got the right fit for sure. He's definitely a mama's dog.
He's perfect, has high energy and a relaxed, calm demeanor. He will go out and burn calories or just as happy to sit and be loved on the couch.
Titus LOVES to go in the truck. We take him everywhere, and he will wait patiently at the store, home depot or wherever we go.
Outdoors he's a normal high-energy guy, and indoors he's a very well-mannered dog. We never crated him indoors at nighttime from day one, just a bed. Absolutely no issues with that process.
Installed a dog door for him; he knew what it is for. We have had only one challenge, getting him to do his business in the dirt and not in our landscape gravel, but he will eventually please us.
This weekend we will see if he likes the lake.
Thanks to Teri and Greg at the California GSP Rescue for their evaluation of the right dog for us”.
A big thanks to John and Lily for adopting Titus and providing him a loving home. They appear to be doing great with him and he with them! John and Lily know there are rewards to adopting and managing GSP’s. We just can’t get enough of these wonderful updates, and are looking forward to hearing more about Titus in the future and the progress John and Lily are making.
