Sheriff is Safe!

Unlike the shelter from where Spike was rescued, Sheriff was in a remote shelter that reached out to California GSP Rescue for assistance. Sheriff was found as a stray and had been diagnosed with demodectic mange that isn't difficult to treat. However, arranging transportation from remote shelters can present a challenge. The shelters aren't able to hold the dogs for an indefinite amount of time and few have the resources to help transport and treat dogs with deomodex for long periods of time. Fortunately for Sheriff, after a few emails were sent and a few phone calls were made, plans started to take shape. Within a few days, plans were made for Volunteer Casey was to meet Rescue Transporter Teresa to pick up Sheriff and bring him to the rescue. A big thanks to Casey, Teresa, & Linda for helping get Sheriff one step closer to his forever home. Note - Sheriff had a mild case of demodex and is looking great!While it can be very rewarding having helped transport a dog to the rescue, it can be frustrating as plans are made and often changed. California GSP Rescue is fortunate to have a growing number of volunteers that understand the process and are willing to help. However, there is always a need for more. If you are, or know anyone that live in the Central Valley, Imperial County, Coachella Valley or near these areas and can help with transport, contact us so we can include you on our list of volunteers. With more individuals to help in remote areas, more transports can be arranged to rescue dogs from the remote shelters.
