The event starts at 9:00 a.m. and this plans to be a great event, full of excitement to your usual weekend plans with your dog, and it’s for a great cause! Walk or run a timed 5K* together, and then hang out at a festival for all things dog (and dog-lovers) at this years Los Angeles location! Strut Your Mutt events include doggie yoga, pet portraits, refreshments, music, contests, post-run pet massages and more. Not only will your participation help the California GSP Rescue, but it will also help end the killing of pets in America’s shelters. As an all volunteer organization without major funding, we sometimes struggle to make ends meet, especially when we get a number of dogs that need medical attention as we have the past few months. One might present an argument that if your expenses go up in one area, you cut back in another area. However, we don’t have a payroll or entertainment budget we can cut. The current adoption fees allow us to maintain as long as we don’t encounter any major Vet bills. We are hoping to raise enough funds with the Strut Your Mutt event to allow us some flexibility with regards to the budget and not having to worry so much when we have a dog that needs medical attention. Rest assured, we’ll see that any GSP in our care gets the medical attention they need. Please consider making a tax deductible donation towards our race. No amount is too small and will go towards medical expenses for the GSP’s currently in our care at the rescue, and for those that will come through our door in the future.  Your donations will help us continue to save homeless, injured and unwanted German Shorthaired Pointers. We are excited about this opportunity for fundraising and to educate people about the breed. We have set our fundraising goal at $10,000. That means we need everyone’s help be successful! There are two ways you can help:Just as it was with prior events, when you sign up for the event, you will get your own fundraising page, that will help you get support from friends and family; and allow you to share on Facebook and Twitter to expand your audience to help raise funds, as well. You will also receive a free t-shirt if you register for the timed 5k or raise a minimum of $75 (including the registration fee, which counts as a donation). Why do we participate? Because animals do not have a voice…. Most people are not aware that every day, some 9,000 dogs and cats are killed in shelters across the United States simply because they do not have a home. We are raising money and awareness for groups that provide a variety of solutions to the problem – things like adoptions programs, spay/neuter services and more. These are the strategies that will increase the number of animals adopted and decrease the number of animals entering shelters. In other words, this is how we end the killing. Here is how to join. Click on this link to Register for the CA GSP Rescue Team! –  Please email team captain Lisa if you have any questions (lisa@gsp-rescue.org)Join us! And help the California GSP Rescue Strut Your Mutt Team raise the much needed funds to help as many GSP’s in our care as possible.  It is going to be a great event! A fun day for all!
