Roxy Rocks!

roxy-032113After a couple months at the spa, Roxy is rediscovering her bachelorette days. She's lost weight, gained muscle, and is  looking more and more like the champion hunter she is. (Probably one of the reasons she was bred so often.) Roxy's mellow around the house, she hasn't chewed one thing she's not supposed to and, unbelieveably, isn't a countersurfer. She'll always come into the kitchen if something's cookin' up, but she just sits politely waiting for somebody to give her a taste, batting her eyes at you. (She's not into vegetables.)Her tail's always wagging wherever she goes. She can still be a little protective and dominant at times (she's a momma through and through) but she's very keen to please and takes correction very well. Since she's been at her foster home, she's become increasingly friendly towards other dogs she encounters and strangers in the house. She's a quiet gal, rarely barks, even at the postman. That's a first! She has been known on occasion to purr though, especially when she's under the blanket and somebody's rubbing her belly.Around the neighborhood, she's easy to manage on a leash. She gets a little excited when she smells critters at the park or on the trail, but she mostly just trots along, happy to be out and on an adventure.Off-leash, she's making huge progress! She now stays pretty much within range, but she's got such a terrific nose that she's eager to find every bush and rock with a lizard under it. (She points really nicely, btw.) But she's coming to us nearly every time we call her now, albeit in a roundabout kind of way. Sort of her way of saying, "Why? I'm having such a great time!" But she finally comes running up to us, happy and eager for a warm greeting.Roxy's especially good about going into her crate when told, but she really prefers the couch, the bed or her lounge cushion in the backyard sun.roxy-022813Roxy loves getting into the car. Sometimes, after we've arrived home, she just hangs out in there for a while, napping off her latest adventure. We're not really sure how many adventures Roxy's had in her life, but we're making sure she's getting plenty of them now til she finds her new family.Learn more about Roxy.  If you are interested in adding Roxy to your family, please complete an adoption application.
