Lucy Is Safe!

Lucy is now safe! A couple of weeks back, we were notified of Lucy, a young German Shorthaired Pointer that ended up in a local shelter. We quickly started to monitor her, but always thought that she would be reclaimed by her owner or adopted by the the general public. Our intake team let the shelter know that if she wasn't adopted that we would be able to pick her up and get her into our program. Her public adoption day came and went and when she became available to rescue, our volunteer Lisa made herself available to go to the shelter to pick her up.

Lisa had the chance to walk her a bit at the shelter. She walked well on a leash. There was a family turning in a cat they had found, so we had the chance to see how she would do with cats. She seemed real interested as to what might be in the cage, until the cat hissed, sending Lucy jumping backwards... it was quite comical, as Lisa went flying with her. Lisa says she jumped right into the crate into her car, and not much of a peep from her.

We always appreciate being notified of dogs in the local shelters, and thank goodness we have quite a few volunteers that are able to get the dogs to the safety of the rescue.
We are still learning about Lucy, but what we do know is that she is extremely sweet, did well riding in a car and has a wonderful temperament. Stay tuned for more information on Lucy as we get to know her better. We want to say a huge “Thank you” to Lisa for re-arranging her schedule and volunteering her valuable time to get Lucy out of the shelter, to safety, and one step closer to her forever home.If you would like to help offset the costs for Lucy's care while she waits for her forever home, please donate below.  Thank you for your continued support, so that we can continue to save dogs like Lucy.
