Is it okay to change a dog's name?

We at GSP Rescue have been asked many times, "is it okay to change a dog's name?"  The answer: Absolutely!GSPs are very intelligent dogs and learning a new name is an easy 'trick'  for them. Use their new name frequently and  associate the new name with positive things such as pets, treats, and meals. It is likely your rescued dog will have been taught some commands in his previous home, so you can link a command with his new name, such as "come, Buddy", "Sit, Buddy", etc. He will quickly begin to associate this new name with his new pack leader - you!
