Hudson Is Adopted!
Ellen and her husband had GSP experience and had lost their prior GSP at 13 years old to seizures. They had enjoyed having a GSP and knew they wanted another. They waited for a while and grieved the loss but when they were ready to open their hearts to another dog, they applied with us to find the right GSP for their home.
Having children we wanted to place a dog we felt would be good with children with them, and knowing that they are both long distance walkers and runners they could handle the energy of a young GSP. They also had a solid plan in place for positive reinforcement training as well as mental stimulation to keep both the mind and body of the GSP busy. They met Hudson and adopted him and are reminded how busy a young GSP can be. Below are her comments since adopting Hudson (now known as Calvin) :
“We are beyond thrilled to have had the privilege to adopt Calvin (previously known as Hudson) through California GSP Rescue. Having previously had an amazing GSP for 13.5 years, we knew we loved the breed and were hoping to find another GSP to become part of our family. Andrea and Greg were both amazing to work with and really helpful in working with us to find the right fit.
Calvin is of course wonderful, adorable, and energetic! It had been 14 years since we had a puppy and at 5 months, Calvin had a few skills, but still needed plenty of training. He’s learned quickly, as most GSP’s do, and we also have created a regular routine for daily exercise (multiple times per day) and time for training. Calvin has quickly become part of the family, taken over the sofa and our beds, and is loved by everyone he meets. He’s house trained and crate trained and starting a more detailed training class for some extra skills and manners. Crows and squirrels are his favorite - followed by food!
We can’t thank California GSP Rescue enough for helping us through the adoption process - we truly are a GSP family.”
