Hank Is Adopted!

Hank came to us from a private owner who had gotten him from a couple that couldn't manage him and were giving him away. In the end, the second owner found it challenging to provide Hank with all the exercise and attention he needed. Knowing Hank was a very active GSP and wasn't a dog for anyone unfamiliar with the breed, he asked California GSP Rescue for assistance. California GSP Rescue is familiar with overly active German Shorthaired Pointers and what is required to manage them. Finding an active family that can give Hank the exercise he needs and knows the breed would be essential.

When a repeat adopter who is active and knows the breed well applied, California GSP Rescue was optimistic. After one of the volunteers on the adoption committee received the application, they reached out to discuss the applicant's current lifestyle and possible candidates. Hank seemed to be everything they wanted and, they appeared to have everything needed to provide the right home. Janet and her family couldn't wait to meet him. When they did, it was love. Here is a recent update from Janet.

"We adopted Hank on September 30 of this year. We knew what we were getting into with this breed because he is our 4th rescue from California GSP Rescue. On the way home, Hank immediately became our little velcro dog. He is fitting in well with his new family. He has stolen our hearts and we love him to pieces. He gets along with other dogs and has the highest vertical jump we've ever seen! He keeps us on our toes and can wear us out from so much exercise. Because he is such an athlete, he needs up to 8 miles a day of exercise. Thank goodness he was trained to run beside a bike. Thank you to Greg, Teri, Lisa and all that the California GSP folks do for these dogs!"

We love hearing when adopters can meet the demands of exercising a GSP, and we love it, even more when the adopters are happy giving them the exercise. Even when it's seeing they run 8 miles a day!

Thank you, Janet and Dennis, for giving Hank a forever home!
