Hachiko Is Adopted!
Hachiko and Kari
Kari applied to the Rescue in December 2021 searching for GSP, but not any GSP. Kari was up for a challenge since she has owned 5 in the past and has dealt with all sorts of behaviors.
A beautiful boy named Hachiko had been waiting for his forever home for a while, but he needed someone who would commit to continue with his training for his protective behaviors, not to mention his allergies. He needed someone fully committed to him full time!
When Kari was introduced to Hachiko, and with her past experiences, she knew she was up for the challenge and was fully committed to making him her “boy.”
Kari came out to the rescue not once, not twice, but three times in order to prove her commitment to Hachiko, and for the rescue to feel confident that she was the person to take on this task to continue his training and modify his behaviors.
Kari now has been Hachiko’s mom for quite some time and here is what she has to say……
“Hachiko is doing great!!! He's settled in very well and is completely and totally "my boy." He loves cuddling, playing, and often lovingly destroying all of his toys. He's also made new friends with my boyfriend's dog Nebs, my parent's lab Tess and my cousin's golden retriever Apollo. He has also bonded with my family and my boyfriend's family.
While, he still has very protective tendencies, he is learning my commands when introducing him to new people, and quickly, cautiously, shows loving behaviors towards my kids, family and friends. He LOVES to play catch and run zoomies at our home and in my boyfriend's backyard with Nebs.
Hachiko also has been on a couple of road trips with me to Arizona to visit my family and Tess. They get along great and Hachiko enjoys my folks' pool.
He's had a few instances of jumping on the bed and couch, but we are successfully addressing these. He understands that I'm the Pack Leader and has never challenged me. I love him to the moon and back and he has brought me so much joy and companionship.
I want to thank the GSP Rescue team for helping Hachiko find his forever home with me!! All of you are amazing and loving in the way you work to ensure the perfect match, and keep the best interest of the dogs first and foremost.
