Gabby's Quinoa Pumpkin Dog Treats
Gabby's Quinoa Pumpkin Dog Treats are a hit!Recently, for the #InternationalDogBiscuitAppreciationDay, Volunteer Gabby was in the kitchen experimenting and trying different recipes. She made a few changes to a standard biscuit recipe and came up with the following recipe with added protein (Quinoa), and fiber (green beans), as well as several other healthy ingredients. These treats smell delicious, and we had a few volunteers willing to do a taste test. They were a favorite among most dogs. Check out the video below to see the results!Thank you Gabby for sharing your recipe with us, and for giving the dogs at the rescue a special treat!Ingredients1/2 cup pumpkin (pure canned, not pie filling) 4 tbsp molasses 4 tbsp water 2 tbsp vegetable oil 2 cups whole wheat flour ¼ tsp baking soda ¼ tsp baking powder 3 tbsp quinoa (rinsed & cooked) 1/3 cup green beans 1 tsp cinnamon (optional)DirectionsPreheat oven to 350 degreesMix pumpkin, molasses, vegetable oil, and water together in a bowlAdd the whole wheat flour, baking soda, baking powder, quinoa and cinnamon to the mixture and stir until dough softensSlowly add in green beansScoop out heaping spoonfuls of dough (small ice cream scoop works well) and roll into ballsSet the balls onto a lightly greased cookie sheet and flattenBake approximately 25 minutes until dough is hardened
