Dante Is Adopted!
As a rescue we do not always have the ability to vet out GSP’s that may and may not be possible hunters. After a lifetime of purchasing dogs this wonderful couple came to us to adopt a dog. It’s their first rescue, and they are incredible dog owners. They came out to meet a couple of dogs that we felt would not be fearful of hunting and they ended up adopting “Dante” (now Sam). They are a wonderful dog home and we are privileged to work with adopters such as this. Below is an update on Dante / Sam:
“When we adopted Dante we changed his name to Sam. We welcomed him into our home Sept. 19th. He fit in right away. He scouted out the house and the yard right away. He had a new bed and cozied right up. He is good in the house, very calm.
By day two he was already protective of the house. He always barks and lets us know when someone is approaching the house. He accepted us right away. We take him everyday for walks, working on his commands, sit, stay, whoa and heel. He doesn't beg when you are eating and goes and lies down. At least three days a week we go to the mountains and he is allowed to run free and hunt. He was only interested in fur and not feather. After being allowed to carry dead quail that changed. Now he loves to hunt Quail. He has not been shot over yet, found out he was gun shy. Tested at 300 yards with 22 blanks and he runs back to me, we are working on that. Sam is a great dog, great personality.
He is a keeper!! He is friendly with people. He is a beautiful dog and everyone loves him. He sticks to us like glue”!
