Chik Is Adopted!

Chik now Jax with Bruce and Wendi

We love repeat adopters! As do Bruce and Wendi, repeat adopters know and understand what California GSP Rescue is about. Chik showed up as an owner relinquishment. While he clearly had more hair than a GSP, more long than short, the person caring for him said her son purchased a German Shorthaired Pointer. Her son had purchased a "GSP" and moved out of the house leaving his dog for his parents to care for. They cared for Chik but he was clearly too much dog for them to manage. They reached out for assistance that California GSP Rescue was able to provide. A short time later Bruce and Wendi met him and fell in love. It was the perfect match! Here is an update from Bruce and Wendi...

We thank Bruce and Wendi for giving Chik, now Jax a wonderful home where he is getting all the love and exercise he needs!

“Hi Greg, We renamed Chik, Jax. (yeah Chicken is not him at all unless it's eating chicken).

Jax is living his best life, whether it's jogging with me on the beach in the early morning or hunting around Guajome County Park pointing out the ducks, geese, squirrels and lizards.  He has learned how to play tug-o-war and insists on at least an hour of tugging a day. He loves riding in the car but loves getting to the beach even more. He has learned that he enjoys to play with the waves, though his two favorite beach events are looking for squirrels in his bestest squirrel spot and meeting and playing with other dogs that people are walking there also. He usually gets five walks a day with one or two of them extra long at the beach or guajome.

He is slowly learning to sleep in a little and actually didn't get up until 5:15 the other day!  He was getting me up to play between 4 and 430. He has learned that new toys are an opportunity to go for the record in getting them torn to shreds, I believe he has totally dismembered and ripped all the stuffing out of a toy in 5 minutes flat. He also loves chewing on beef marrow bones that we get for him at the butcher. They are much safer for dogs since they are not cooked and thus not brittle.

He's an amazing boy and we feel so grateful to have been so blessed with him. Greg, thank you for all your help and guidance and for everything you do for these wonderful animals. God bless you and California GSP Rescue”!
