Booda has been just amazing - update on a once shy dog

A year and a half ago, California GSP Rescue adopted a shy dog named Booda to a couple looking to rescue a GSP. Things have since changed, the couple is no longer, but Booda remains very much part of Andrea's life. The following is an update from Andrea on Booda."Booda went home with me on the fateful day of Sept 4th, 2010. He was the shyest dog I'd ever seen, unwilling to approach any humans, and barely me. He sat on his bed and stared at me for two weeks, with his tail never leaving it's tucked position. Walks around the neighborhood were filled with drooling, twirling in circles, and Booda's obvious desire for a hole to jump into whenever we'd cross paths with anyone. Booda was the sweetest soul I'd ever encountered, that it never occurred to me that I'd taken on too much by bringing him home.""Almost two years later, Booda is completely unrecognizable as the scared, shy boy of 10 months. With a little bit of training, constant love, nurturing, and encouragement, Booda has evolved into an amazing, thoughtful, and sensitive partner. His confidence and precociousness consistently grows, as does his personality evolve. We share a loving, trusting, and intimate relationship that has been my first of this kind. I would never trade this beautiful experience with him for a "normal" dog. I believe that his shyness created a sensitivity in him that makes his personality and perception of his world extra-ordinary, which touches me on a daily basis.""Every time I stare into his beautiful golden eyes I thank my lucky stars that I happened upon the GSP rescue just when Booda was looking for a home.  It's continually an amazing experience to have touched his life in this way, and I look forward to spending every day with him as he grows. The courage Booda exhibits to overcome his shyness gives me courage to lead the life I've always wanted. I owe the positive evolution of my own life to Booda. Any perceived inconvenience in owning a shy dog is tremendously outweighed by the huge amount of love they give back in appreciation. Having Booda in my life has been the most rewarding and fulfilling experience I've ever had. I wouldn't change any of it for the world. Thank you."Thank you, Andrea, for taking a chance on the shy dog who often went unnoticed by adopters wanting a typical extroverted GSP.
